Washington State Failure to Yield Right of Way
You may receive a ticket in Washington State for failing to yield right of way; however, contesting your ticket is possible. They will look at your case to determine if the case can be beat, and will work to have your ticket resolved on your behalf.
In Washington, right of way is indicated by authorized stop signs or yield signs. Unless there is a construction flagger, police officer, or firefighter directing traffic, each driver who approaches a stop sign must stop at, or before, the marked stop line. If there is no stop line, a driver should stop before a marked crosswalk, or the point closest to the intersecting street so the driver can see approaching traffic before entering the road. After the road is clear, the driver can then move across the intersection.
If a driver approaches a yield sign, he or she should slow down to a reasonable speed for the conditions, or stop if necessary, before entering a crosswalk or the closest point of the intersection where he or she has a view of approaching traffic before entering the road. The driver should yield right of way to any approaching cars before entering the road or intersection. If a driver becomes involved in a collision after failing to stop at a yield sign, he or she may be charged with failure to yield right of way.
You should note that if you pay your ticket, you are pleading guilty to the crime in question. Your failure to yield right of way ticket will show up on your driving record, which could lead to an increase in your insurance premiums. It can also affect your job if your employer requires a clean driving record.
However, if you do not pay, contest or ask to mitigate the ticket, within the given timeframe, you will have a more serious problem on your hands.
